She recently hosted Saturday Night Live, she has a new sit-com coming out and she’s had guest appearances on so many shows! Betty White is so busy these days, it’s hard to believe she took the time to read Harry the Dirty Dog by author Gene Zion to my kids last night! Okay, she wasn’t actually here, and NO it wasn’t some low quality You Tube video either. It is simply a great website called Storyline Online.
The StoryLineOnline.net website is a program funded by the Screen Actors Guild Foundation. The website hosts free online videos where childrens’ books are read by famous people and professional actors like Betty White. There are currently 23 videos featuring popular childrens’ books. Each video can be watched in full screen, includes subtitles and comes with additional activities.
The video’s are well done. It’s the next best thing to having Betty White in your living room. This particular book, Harry the Dirty Dog was tastefully animated based on the original pictures in the book. The video naturally shows the animated pictures and Betty White reading. But don’t take my word for it, check out the stories yourself!
