Imusa Dough and Tortilla Press Review and Giveaway 6/30

I read about the Imusa Tortilla Press in the April issue of Rachel Ray’s magazine. Pete Lescoe, founder of the Food Should Taste Good line of all natural chips (featured in my Food Should Taste Good review giveaway) commented on a few of the things that he loves. The Imusa Tortilla Press was on his list! I had never seen one and the thought of homemade tortillas was very enticing to a tortilla fan like me!

The Review

I made low carb tortillas with the Imusa Tortilla press. I try to limit my carb intake when I can, but I am only human, life is short and I love food.  In my case, excess carbs and sugars leads to more carbs and sugars which adds on the pounds.  This is why I tested out the tortilla press with a low carb baking mix that I love called Carbquick.

Place a two inch round ball of dough in the center of the Tortilla Press.

The instructions recommend cutting two 6″ round pieces of either saran wrap or a plastic grocery bag and placing one piece over the bottom plate and then place the other piece between the dough and the top plate.  I used a plastic grocery bag and was pretty amazed when the tortilla peeled right off.

To make a torilla, gently close the cover and move the handle down onto the top plate to flatten.

Who knew making perfect tortillas could be this easy and  so much fun?

I cooked my tortilla in my small frying pan with a little bit of oil and they came out nice and golden brown. I enjoyed a chicken salad sandwich on a freshly made low carb tortilla. (Each tortilla has about 1 carb each.

No matter what type of flour I decide to use, white, wheat, or corn (like Pete Lesco likes to use!) this Tortilla press will make it easy to enjoy homemade tortillas!
