Redpack Tomatoes Prize Pack Giveaway and Ellie Krieger’s Easy Tomato Sauce Recipe 1/24

Red Gold produces over 100 different styles and flavors of tomato products in 20 different sizes and containers and they’ve been business for 70 years. This review features Red Gold’s Redpack tomatoes. I received a (pretty cool!) Redpack prize pack tin that included 2 28 oz. cans of Redpack tomatoes (one diced and one whole peeled), a hand-held can opener, pasta server, spatula, pizza cutter and magnets. One Moms Own Words reader will win this same prize pack.

Easy Tomato Sauce Recipe

The following recipe is a modified version of Ellie Krieger’s Easy Tomato Sauce Recipe featured on the Food Network. It really is easy! For the purpose of this review, I used both cans of Red Pack tomatoes, one crushed and one whole peeled. Ellie’s recipe called for two cans of whole peeled and then chopped. (I figure I saved myself from chopping that second can!)  Also, I added 1/2 teaspoon of crushed red pepper to give the sauce a little kick! (You may opt to leave the crushed red pepper out like Ellie does.)

This sauce is so fast and simple to make and the Redpack tomatoes are so full of flavor that I don’t miss the sugar that many sauces call for. The extra kitchen gadgets in the prize pack always come in handy in the kitchen. The tin is just over 2 feet tall and has about a 12″ diameter. What will I use it for? Storage? A trash can? I’m not sure – but it sure is big and colorful!

YUK, no I don’t, but my husband has LOTS of them, lol. I do not like cooked tomatoes, although I do like the flavor of them in macaroni and tomatoes, have to use the whole ones and cut them in half though so I get the juice and can pick out the tomatoes, my husband eats that part for me.

Nice giveaway. Thanks. No, I don’t have a special tomato sauce recipe. I like to start with a bottled tomato sause mix like Newman’s Own, then season it from there. I find the secret to a good sauce is adding a bit of red wine, fresh onions, chopped canned tomatoes and at the very least, additional garlic.
