The Aquapod has a florescent orange futuristic one piece design that captures the eye instantly. Review of Product: To use the Aquapod you need three things, a bicycle pump, water and a two liter bottle (or two). Most people have a bicycle pump lying around, but since we are living with my parents temporarily, we do not have one. We picked one up, along with a couple of two liter bottles (diet soda).
Now I thought the Aquapod was just the perfect “toy” for the boys to try out with their Dad, but he said it appears to operate so easily and safely that he suggested I go ahead and set it up for the boys.
We found a nice clear area in my Mom’s backyard. We filled our bottle up to one third full with water and placed the launcher on top of the bottle as the instructions indicated. I didn’t have it seated correctly the first time, and I learned (directions) that the bottle has to be attached so that it covers the o-ring until it won’t go any further.
The bicycle pump has an odd attachment that I had to hold in place as I pumped the launcher. It was multi-tasking at its best – holding the pump to the launcher, pumping with my left hand and teetering backwards so not as to get a bottle launched in my face. Never-the-less, pumping the launcher this way proved to be safe, there were no “launches gone bad”. As a matter of fact, we had several successful launches, reaching 50 to 75 feet! The boys and I each had to tug on the lanyard a few times to get the bottle to launch, but when it launched, it operated just like you see in the video!
My only question is, once the laucher has been pumped, should I cap the launcher’s valve? It launches with and without it being capped so maybe it doesn’t matter. Well, no worries, it’s Friday and the expert will be home soon. Then I will know more about this launcher and how it operates that I ever thought possible.
Yep. I wasn’t doing it quite right! Enjoy the following video! Let the expert show you how it’s done!
Please note! The Aquapod should not be used by anyone less than 14 years old – I used my discretion. I set the bottle up for the kids and once we were at a safe distance and the bottle was set to launch, I lsupervised and let my kids pull the lanyard to launch the bottle.
Grant (the expert) and the kids have experimented with bottle launching in the past, so I knew this would be a hit. Who would have guessed that it is so easy even I can be out there launching bottles with my sons! How about you? Would you like your own Aquapod?
